EMT Basic Refresher
Meets the National USDOT requirements for continuing education.
U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) 24 hour EMT Refresher course:
EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technician) are required by law to be re-certified every two years. EMTs may fulfill this requirement by taking EMT refresher courses, such as the 24-hour EMT refresher course designed by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The USDOT program consists of 29 sections which are organized in seven lecture modules, with an examination at the end of each one. Module one covers such topics as medical, legal and ethical issues, the human body and lifting and moving patients. Module two of the EMT refresher course is entirely devoted to airway management. Assessments of an injury scene and geriatric, pediatric and trauma patients are among the subjects in Module three. Module four stresses cardiac and respiratory emergencies, general pharmacology and obstetrics and gynecology. Bleeding and shock and injuries to the head and spine are discussed in Module five. Module six of the EMT refresher course is given over to the treatment and handling of infants and children and module seven is taken up by rescue, ambulance operations and special operations.
Students will receive a Certificate of Completion after completing the class.
