Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid
With child care providers in mind, the American Heart Association designed this pediatric course to meet the regulatory and credentialed training requirements for child care workers in all 50 states.
The course provides training for those who have a duty to respond to first aid emergencies, such as child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth groups, coaches for sports organizations and others.
This course contains information on how to manage illnesses and injuries in a child during the first few minutes until professional help arrives.
The core course content covers: first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies.
The course is classroom based and is available in English and Spanish. The modular design and optional pediatric first aid topics allow child care facilities to tailor the program to their needs or meet regulatory agency requirements in some states.
Optional pediatric first aid modules are:
Pediatric first aid topics (eye injuries; fever; suspected abuse; and snake, spider, scorpion, tick and marine animal bites and stings)
CPR and AED use
Asthma care training for child care providers
The Student Workbook includes a CD-ROM with several additional pediatric first aid topics.
If you complete the course at the RESQ facility, cards will be issued the same day.
