Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Renewal Course
Intended Audience:
For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who are seeking renewal of their PALS card.
Course Description:
In our PALS recertification course, you will refresh the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Skills taught include:
- Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
- The systematic approach to pediatric assessment
- Effective respiratory management
- Management of shock
- Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
- Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
- Effective resuscitation team dynamics

**Students are encouraged to complete the online PALS self-asessment test at www.heart.org/eccstudent (enter the word
"palsprovider" when prompted for access) prior to attending class.**
If you complete the course at the RESQ facility, cards will be issued the same day.
