This is an AHA blended learning course. A student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner online, followed by a Hands-On Skills Session in person with an AHA Instructor. You will receive the same American Heart Association Certification Card upon completion as you would for a classroom based training.
How do I schedule the skills check-off portion if the certification class requires it?
Call 317.786.7260 to schedule your required hands-on skills testing section. Bring your "Certificate of Completion" and you will receive your completion card once successfully completed. Walk-ins are not permitted.
How long will it take to receive my key code to take the online portion of the class?
Usually you will receive your key code via email within 5 minutes of purchasing although it may take up to 24 hours.
Can I take a break while working on an online course?
Yes. You can enter and exit the online course section as often as you need. Your completed exercises will be saved if you logout or are inactive for 30 minutes. However, courses that require an online test, the test must be completed in a single session with no breaks.
Can I take my American Heart Association BLS, ACLS or PALS 100% online?
"No AHA course completion card is issued without hands-on manikin skills testing” American Heart Association, Program Administration Manual, 2013 pg. 49. Watch how to avoid online imitators video.
If the course requires an online test, how many attempts do I have to pass?
That depends on the course or certification you are taking. You are allowed at least two attempts to pass an online course but may be permitted more for certain courses.
Are there different courses for initial or renewal certification?
No. Students needing initial certification or renewal take the same online course.
I found a website saying I can complete my certificate 100% online. Is it legit?
No. There is no major nationally recognized training program in the U.S. that endorses CPR, First Aid or American Heart Association's ACLS or PALS without practice and evaluation of hands-on-skills. Watch how to avoid online imitators video.
How long do I have to complete a course?
You have 12 months to complete the online portion of the class after purchasing. Once the online course is completed you must complete the skills session within 60 days.
When will I receive my certification card?
With RESQ, you can receive your certification card by the next business day after you complete the hands on skills testing session. Certain restrictions do apply.
